As a wedding photographer, I firmly believe that a wedding is a sacred celebration. A day meant to be thoroughly lived in and enjoyed with those you love most. The clients I serve wholeheartedly agree. A phrase I hear consistently is: “we do not want our day to be reduced to an overly-produced photoshoot.” Hear me when I say: your wedding is far too precious and fleeting to be spent chasing an endless list of curated portraits. Married couples do not lie when they say that the day goes by in the blink of an eye. This is precisely why bridal portrait sessions hold such a special place in my heart. Bridal sessions create a peaceful and intentional space to capture portraits without the restriction and limitation of a timeline. As a bride, this allows you to let loose a bit more come wedding day, resulting in day-of portraits that reflect more of how you felt in the moment, rather than just how you looked. The end result? A gallery of stunning portraits of you as a bride that are created to be framed and cherished by you and your families for years to come.
THE BEAUTY OF A BRIDAL SESSION
One of the most overlooked benefits of a bridal portrait session is the confidence boost it gives brides before their wedding day. For Anna, (the stunning & angelic bride featured here!) this was her first time wearing her wedding dress since her initial dress fitting consultation. As I took her bridal portraits, she mentioned how special and fun it was to experience being in her dress before her wedding. During her session, she also discovered her favorite way to style her wedding dress and veil together, get comfortable with sitting and standing in her gown, and practice walking with the hoop skirt that she’d be wearing all throughout her wedding reception. While these things might seem small and insignificant, as a bride, all of these things build a sense of confidence long before you walk down the aisle. I witnessed firsthand how Anna’s confidence grew and developed throughout her bridal session. Aside from portraits, a bridal session grants you the space to ease into your wedding dress and lets you get comfortable with being in front of your photographer’s camera lens. By the time your wedding day arrives, you're no longer anticipating how you will feel in your dress or worrying about how you will look, because you already know.
BUILDING your CONFIDENCE PRE-WEDDING DAY
When Anna was on the initial search for her wedding dress, one of her married friends gave her a word of advice by saying: “it’s the only thing that will be present in every single photograph from your wedding.” In the midst of wedding planning, you spend such a significant amount of your time searching for THE dress. So it only seems right that she deserves her own little moment to shine, wouldn’t you agree?! A bridal session does just that: casts a spotlight on the stunning dress you’re so eager to get married in. In the same way that your wedding gallery should transport you right back to the feelings of your day, your bridal portraits should remind you exactly how your dress was: the intricate details of the lace and buttons, how your train flowed as you walked, the hand-stitched details on your veil, and most of all, how beautiful you felt wearing it. After I delivered Anna’s full gallery of bridal portraits, she expressed how grateful she was to have her dress so intricately and beautifully captured. Having your wedding dress so intentionally captured within your photographs is why a bridal session is about much more than just pretty portraits. It becomes a way to preserve the beauty of one of the most meaningful pieces you'll ever wear. Long after your wedding day has passed, bridal portraits will remind you of the cherished dress you became a bride in.

VENDOR CREDITS & LINKS
The true cherry on top of any bridal portrait session is the venue where you decide to take them. Similar to a wedding venue, the location of your bridal session ties the entire vision and feel of your photos together. It should also be a place that resonates with you and your personality and bridal style! While planning her bridal session, Anna expressed to me how much she adores all things vintage and locations with history and architecture. This is when I immediately suggested we photograph her bridals at Historic Aldredge House in Dallas. Few places in Dallas embody the elegance, charm, and character that Aldredge House has. Nestled in the heart of the city, this historic estate offers an atmosphere of refined beauty. Stepping into the house, it feels as though you have time travelled into a completely different time period. From stately white columns and a classic brick exterior, to lush gardens in the back of the house, and beautifully preserved interiors adorned with antiques, every corner of the property serves as a stunning backdrop for portraits. Each time I photograph a session at Aldredge House, I know it will be such an incredible experience for both myself and my clients. One of the primary reasons I adore photographing at this location is due to the incredible variety the venue offers within a single location. The day of Anna’s bridal session, Dallas surprised us with dark and gloomy thunderstorms that lasted all day. In spite of this unexpected weather, I never once worried about the fact that we would have to stay inside for our entire 2 hour session. Instead, I was excited to spend even more time with Anna exploring both floors of the mansion and finding the spots we loved most for the backdrop of her portraits. If you are searching for amazing architecture, Victorian-style design, and heirloom-quality photographs, Aldredge House is one of the most beautiful portrait locations in Dallas. Its character and charm make it the perfect setting for creating photographs that will remain elegant and meaningful for years to come.
